It’s a time for reflection, for celebration of progress, but most importantly, it’s a call for commitment.
For too long, plastic, a material designed to last forever, has been used fleetingly and discarded carelessly, leading to environmental degradation that touches every corner of our planet. In mining areas, the challenges can be unique, but the call for environmental justice and sustainable practices is universal.
At CESMECC, we are more dedicated than ever to being part of the solution. We reaffirm our core commitments:
- ✔️ We pledge to train more communities in artisanal and small-scale mining regions on practical plastic waste reduction strategies and effective waste management. Knowledge is the first step to empowerment.
- ✔️ We pledge to support robust policy and dedicated research that fosters circular economies, turning waste streams into resource streams and designing out pollution from the start.
- ✔️ We pledge to continue promoting and integrating green technologies within artisanal mining, helping to reduce overall environmental impact, including plastic reliance.
